Surgery was successful!

November 18, 2015 by Shannon 1 Comment

We checked-in for surgery in full party mode this morning! I wore my Wonder Woman onesie and have a Wonder Woman snuggie waiting for me at home! (Thanks, Victoria!)

I handed out boob shaped candies to the staff & had a boob football for my surgeon!

Speaking of boobs, what do you think of my new ones?

They’re really quite comfortable for resting my head.

Ok, on to serious stuff… Surgery went well. No complications or surprises. Praise God! The anesthesiologist was able to use a type of pain block on me so I did not require narcotics for pain management during surgery. The narcotics are what normally make people nauseated post surgery & I tend to get hella sick after surgery, so I had prayed they would be able to do this & thank God we could! I woke up more quickly post surgery because I had fewer drugs in my system & the block lasts for a couple of days so I’m experiencing close to no discomfort (& definitely nothing I would call pain!) as I type! How awesome is that! I’m able to move around & have had lunch.  Overall, I’m doing great & keeping the nurses entertained as they walk by & see my boob pillow!

God is good. Love y’all.

About Shannon

I’m starting this blog as a way to keep loved ones informed as I battle breast cancer. However, breast cancer is just a part of my life. It doesn’t get to define me or take over my whole life. If I have to talk all breast cancer all the time, I’ll be going from MD Anderson to Menninger Clinic faster than the speed of light! So, walk with me on this journey, cry with me sometimes, but please, please, please for the love of all things holy, enjoy the silly with me, celebrate the excellent, and focus on the positive!

You have got to be their FAVORITE PATIENT EVER! Ours too!
Praise God for the great news (and the Wonder Woman outfit).
    Love and prayers continue!
